Hi! I’m Barkley and I didn’t come into the shelter looking this sleek and handsome (I was handsome – just not THIS handsome). I went straight into foster so I could get some ‘meat on my bones’ which is exactly what happened. I am now a healthy 61 pounds, love dogs and humans, and was potty trained within 2 days (I use the dog door like a champ!).
I am very food motivated (I was actually starving prior to rescue) and guard my food a bit- I’m getting better after only 3 weeks. I play really great with the other 2 dogs in the house and share toys without issue.
I am learning not to jump on everyone when I meet them (I am just so darn excited to meet you!). I have met small dogs too without issue. I did almost take out foster moms knee with my hard head when running into the house (I didn’t see her…sorry and she’s fine by the way) so a house with older kids if you have any would be better for everyone. I have a bit of separation anxiety and am learning that the humans do return – so I will settle down after making a little ruckus.
I need someone who understands I am strong and still need ongoing training support but I am a super awesome doggo – won’t you let me show you?

Longterm resident
Well, hello! I’m Bobby! I’m a Rottweiler/Great Pyrenees mix (with a bit of Giant Schnauzer and Bernese Mountain Dog). The humans here tell me I have beautiful, loving eyes and am quite the looker! I just know…I love hanging out with people I trust AND KNOW. But I’m fearful of strangers and that fear presents as jumping and barking at strangers, so it takes time to get to know me. But once we’re friends, I’ll love you forever and be the most loyal companion. I love playing with other dogs, even ones that are smaller than me, because, let’s face it, most dogs are smaller than me! So I would love to play with another doggo pal! Due to my extra large size, I would do best in an adult-only home. I try to have good leash manners but I’m a strong boy so I need an equally strong, confident handler in case I see something fun to chase-like a squirrel! I would love for you to come meet me! And if you already have another dog, bring them to meet me to see if we will get along.

Meet Courage: The Lovable Pup with an Alpaca-Like Charm!
Courage is a one-of-a-kind pup with an elongated neck, soft white fur, and big, soulful brown eyes that remind everyone of an adorable alpaca. While his name suggests bravery, Courage is still on his journey to fully embody it. He’s working hard to trust new people, and with each passing day, he grows more confident and courageous.
This quick learner already excels at commands like “sit” and plays fetch like a pro! Not only does he retrieve toys, but he also gently nudges them against your leg, eager for the next throw. Courage loves staying engaged with his human companions and builds strong, lasting bonds with those who show him patience and love.
Courage’s playful spirit is unmatched. His signature move is a full-body wiggle that starts at his nose and shimmies all the way down his long torso, bringing smiles to everyone around him. He adores other dogs and is always ready to make friends. With proper introductions, he’s shown great success during playtime and thrives in social settings.
Courage is a truly unique and lovable pup, bursting with personality and potential. He’s ready to find his forever home where he can continue to grow, love, and share his joyful spirit with a family who will cherish him. Are you the one to help Courage live up to his name?

The first thing you need to know about Lincoln is this: he just wants to sunbathe while you rub his belly. That’s his love language.
Lincoln is a one-of-a-kind pup with a gigantic head and two adorably crossed eyes-we tease him about it all the time, and luckily, he doesn’t seem to mind. As long as there are treats involved, you can say whatever you want. This boy will sit, pose, and probably run for president if you’re holding a biscuit.
Lincoln walks at an alarmingly slow pace. So slow, in fact, that we lovingly call him “Eeyore on a stroll.” He takes his time, soaking in the world around him with the chill vibe of a true couch potato in training.
Despite his laid-back style, Lincoln has gathered a loyal fan base at the shelter. Everyone adores his sweet, goofy nature and calm, loving presence.
Lincoln has been with us for almost two years-through no fault of his own-and he’s more than ready to leave kennel life behind. The shelter environment has been hard on him, and he’ll need some patience and training as he transitions to a home. But we know this: Lincoln is an amazing dog. He just needs the right person to believe in him.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than belly rubs, a cozy couch, and a little sunshine, Lincoln might be your guy. He’s ready to be someone’s best friend. Could that someone be you?

As a shelter volunteer, the “paycheck” comes when adoption papers are complete and a previously unwanted animal takes the final Freedom Ride out of the shelter gate to a permanent, loving home.
