IF YOU RENT YOUR HOME:
You will need a copy of your rental agreement or lease stating the pet policy. Or a letter (email format OK) from your landlord that includes:

  • Your name
  • Address
  • Permission to have pets
  • Any size and breed restrictions
  • Landlord name
  • Contact info
  • and Signature

IF YOU OWN YOUR HOME:
You will need to provide proof of ownership – a mortgage statement, property tax statement or deed.

Next Steps:

Once the necessary documentation is received, an adoption counselor will contact you within a week to discuss available animals, and to schedule a meet & greet appointment if there is a potential match. Please also check your spam folder for the response from our adoptions team.

All family members in your household, including dogs, will need to participate in the meet and greet appointment.

Please note that submitting an application means that you will be considered along with other applicants, and we will select the application that provides the best outcome for the animal. We do not adopt out on a first-come first-served basis.

HSNB’s adoption policy is to only adopt our dogs and cats to individuals and families looking to add a beloved pet to their family and who will primarily live inside the home as a companion.  We choose not to adopt to those planning to keep a dog or cat only as an outside or backyard animal, or kept only in a garage, or, in the case of dogs, to serve as a guard dog, as we do not consider that to be a safe, healthy, or humane environment.

Adoption Fees

Cats – $125 and up.
Kittens six months or younger – $225 and up.

Puppies six months or younger – $400 and up

Prices are subject to change without notice.

  • Spay or neuter
