Ruff Runners: Paws, Pace, and Purpose

Ruff Runners is an energetic group of volunteers dedicated to getting our shelter dogs out of their kennels and into the fresh air. Our mission is simple: provide our animals with a much-needed physical outlet while increasing their visibility within the community to help them find their forever homes.

Whether we are hitting the trails for a morning jog or participating in local community races, we believe that a tired dog is a happy dog—and a visible dog is a more adoptable one!

What We Do

  • Local Runs: We host scheduled runs throughout Vallejo and Benicia, giving our high-energy residents a chance to explore the neighborhood and practice their leash manners.
  • Race Days: You’ll find us representing the shelter at local 5Ks and community outreach events, where our dogs can show off their personalities to potential adopters in a fun, active setting.
  • Exercise & Enrichment: Beyond just a workout, these runs provide vital mental stimulation and socialization for dogs waiting for their perfect match.
